Building Permit fees:
No permit or certificate required by this division shall be issued until the fee prescribed herein shall have been paid to the city clerk, nor shall an amendment to a permit be approved until the additional fee, if any, due to an increase in the dimensions of the structure resulting in an increase of the total square footage of the project, shall have been paid.
For a permit for the construction, addition or alteration to a building or structure, or for the placement of a manufactured housing unit as defined in appendix A, art. II, subsection 2-1.B.46
The fee shall be at the rate of the calculated value of the proposed construction, addition, or alteration rounded to the nearest dollar amount, except the minimum amount of any permit shall not be less than $25.00.
Calculated Value
The term "calculated value" as used in this section shall be determined by the following:
Type area cost × square foot = calculated value (CV)
Permit Cost =(Calculated value /1000) x $2.00
Type area and square foot cost are determined as follows:
Residential Construction:
- Habitable, living area $87.00 per square foot.
- Basement finished $30.00 per square foot.
- Basement, unfinished $15.00 per square foot.
- Garage attached $35.00 per square foot.
- Garage, unattached $25.00 per square foot.
- Accessory building $18.00 per square foot.
- Porch/deck w/roof $18.00 per square foot.
- Alteration or remodel $18.00 per square foot.
- Manufactured Home $2.00 per square foot.
Industrial/Commercial construction:
- Warehouse/storage area $10.00 per square foot.
- Office area $25.00 per square foot.
- Sales/service area $20.00 per square foot.
- Manufacturing area $15.00 per square foot.
If your construction type is not listed Building permit fee will be calculated as follows
- Permit Cost = (Estimated Construction Cost/1000) x $2.00
