Mount Carmel Budget Process

Fiscal Year for the City of Mount Carmel is May 1st to April 30th.

CURRENT BUDGET
  • Each Department head and Commissioner over that department prepare draft budgets beginning in February and March for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Meetings between department heads, commissioner for each department and the comptroller occur to review budget requests/needs.
  • Budget requests are subjected to internal review and modification and the Administration’s budget is compiled for Full Council review.
  • Public budget hearings occur in early April in council chambers at City Hall.  At this time, citizens may provide the Administration and Council with their comments concerning the budget.
  • Each Budget must be passed by ordinance.
  • The City Council must pass the budget for the next fiscal year at the last council meeting in April.

There are currently 43 full-time employees and 75 part-time and seasonal workers. The operating budget for fiscal year 2023, which runs from May 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023, is $11,970,432
