On Saturday, October 17, 2020, Firefighters from Wabash, Edwards, Wayne, Gibson, and Vanderburgh counties participated in a live-burn "Light-and-Fight" training in Rural Wabash County. Instructors from the Frontier Community College, Evansville (IN) Fire Department, Mt. Carmel Fire Department, and Allendale Fire Department led a group of approximately 30 firefighters in multiple training scenarios throughout the day. Students (ranging from first-time trainees to seasoned veterans) learned valuable lessons in fire behavior, interior attack, search-and-rescue, ventilation, and fireground operations. After training was completed, the house was burned down, with on-scene personnel keeping an eye on things and extinguishing spot fires caused my airborne embers.
